Introduce

HostScan include two aspects: IP Search (Scan), Port Search (Scan). I will introduce these aspects below.

IP Search(Scan)

HostScan software is used to find if host ,server or router on network is running well ,and is connected to net. HostScan can help you get some information about the host, server or router you find on net, for example: domain name, time you spend to find it, TTL, and so on.

you must use the PING function in MS-DOS, through it, you will check if the host is running. for example you want check 192.168.1.1, then you type "Ping 192.168.1.1" after c:\>,and the computer will give you the result. Sometimes you can set some parameters. But if you want check form 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.20,you must type 20 times. Suppose you check the hosts from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.200 or more, I think you can't type 200 times or more, sometimes It's impossible. Now you can use HostScan software.

HostScan can search from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.It is powerful. for someone who want to scan the LAN, it seems more useful. When use, only you want to do is type the first IP Address (for example 192.168.1.1)and the last IP Address (for example 192.168.1.200) in the form, Press the Search button ,and everything is OK, HostScan will give the information of all hosts, as better as PING, fast and right.

Port Seach(Scan)

HostScan also can be used to find which port on some computer is opened. For some services, for example:WWW,FTP,POP3,and so on, there is a opened port to execute a certain service. After find a opened port , HostScan will give you the service name, service type, connected time, connected times and succeed ratio.

HostScan can scan port from 1 to 65535,But at default, HostScan can search port from 1 to 1024.If you want to define the port you want to search ,please define it in Setting Menu.

How to use HostScan

How to start

Import the first IP address and the last IP address in the IP address,
and click search ,HostScan will search host on net. after it start,
click pause to pause the software running
or click stop to stop the software running.
When you select the start port scan, after finished the ip scan ,
the program will automatically start to scan port on finded ip address

IP Scan result

if find host, server or router on net, it will list the IP address,
domain name, time, TTL, times: succeed ratio.

IP address: the machine IP address on netware or LAN.

Domain name: the Wide World Web or machine name.
for example: www.yahoo.com, www.microsoft.com  ,and so on.

Time: the time from send the request to get the response.

TTL: time to live; the time the package wander on net.

Times: Succeed Ratio: the times you scan and the percent of the succeeded times

Port Scan result

if find port on ip address, it will list the port,
protocol, service, Time, system time, times: succeed ratio.

port: the machine port opened on IP Address of netware or LAN.

portocol: the connect type for port

service: which service is running.

time: the time from start connecting to connected.

system time: the machine time when connected.

Times: Succeed Ratio: the times you scan and the percent of the succeeded times.

Search Information

Port Number :the number of port finded.

StatusBar

the statusbar is divided into five parts:

First: show the port scanning on which ip address.

Two: show the process scanning

Three: show a pair of eye, it will turn around from time to time.

Four: show the registration information
